Aurangabad: A fox cub was recently rescued from a well near Nakshatrawadi on the outskirts of the city and has been kept under the observation.Environmentalist Kishor Pathak of Shrusti Samvardhan Sanstha, who along with a team is looking after the animal, said the cub must have accidentally fallen into the well while roaming with his mother.“We got a rescue call on Sunday for saving the cub. A basket was used to lift the cub and he was rushed to the hospital for medical examination,” Pathak said.A medical examination ruled out any major injuries but the animal has been kept under observation for a few days before releasing it into the natural habitat.“The cub is hardly around four month-old and needs to be kept under observation for a certain period as he is too young to be released into the natural habitat. Dogs and other animals are natural predators of juvenile foxes and therefore the rescued animal needs to be taken care of for some days,” he said, adding that the forest department was being posted about all the updates.
