Youth held for forging marksheet

Aurangabad: The Cantonment police have arrested a 21-year old youth, who allegedly submitted a forged marksheet during Army recruitment carried out at Aurangabad. Mohite cracked the examination and made it to the merit list.Later, during verification of the submitted documents, authorities found that Mohite marksheet was forged. The eligibility criteria for applying for the post included 50 per cent marks in the English paper in HSC.Mohite, who had bagged 49 per cent marks, filled the online form stating that he has scored 50 per cent marks in the subject. At the time of submitting hard copies of the documents to the office, he submitted a the forged copy of the marksheet. He was produced before the court on Tuesday following which he was remanded to four-day police custody.The arrested accused has been identified as Rahul Haridas Mohite, hailing from Ghoshegaon village in Bhokardan of Jalna district.Senior inspector Manoj Pagare told TOI, “He has scored 49 marks in English subject in his HSC, but while submitting the documents during recruitment, he submitted a forged marksheet reading 50 marks.”The officer added that this was the second such offence registered by the Army recruitment office, against suspects who have forged their educational qualification scores and even date of birth, to meet the eligibility criteria.The recruitment for the post of clerks were carried out in October 2018.
