500 city mosques spread message on water conservation during Friday prayer

Aurangabad: The clerics from around 500 mosques in the city gave a message on water conservation during Friday’s prayer on account of World Water Day. “The water used for wazoo before prayers in mosques goes to waste. “One can save water by reusing it for other purposes and ensuring that any leaking taps are repaired,” Nadvi said.Talks are going on with the mosque administrators for reusing water used for ‘wazoo’ (abulation), the social worker said. However, now we are trying to think of how this water can be put to use. The campaign is already attracting impressive response from people,” he said.School and college students are also targeted under this drive.

Aurangabad: The clerics from around 500 mosques in the city gave a message on water conservation during Friday’s prayer on account of World Water Day. The initiative was led by city-based NGOs and Muslim organisations.Read and Lead Foundation’s Mirza Abdul Qayyum Nadvi said that the campaign was implemented considering the water scarcity in the Marathwada area. The live storage of Jayakwadi Dam is almost exhausted and water is being pumped from dead storage.As part of the campaign, rallies, interventions and sessions are being held involving the mosques, schools and colleges to educate people about using water judiciously.During Friday prayers at the city mosques with a large number of people came together under one roof, Read and Lead Foundation gave a message on saving water. “One can save water by reusing it for other purposes and ensuring that any leaking taps are repaired,” Nadvi said.Talks are going on with the mosque administrators for reusing water used for ‘wazoo’ (abulation), the social worker said. “The water used for wazoo before prayers in mosques goes to waste. They are being suggested steps which they can take each day to save water.The campaign will continue over the coming few days across the city and the organisers have appealed for support from all sections of the society for this cause.The campaign is supported by Imam Council’s Zakeria Nadvi, Maulana Atik Ur Rehman, Maulana Sadik Nadvi, Maulana Abdul Rashid Nadvi and Abdul Sami Nadvi.
