Aurangabad: The Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (Massia), industrial body of the region, on Thursday lamented lack of proper roads, water supply and waste management at Waluj MIDC.The body also said that several representations to authorities concerned haven’t borne fruit. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) executive engineer RS Kulkarni said action to resolve these issues has been initiated and in another 2 to 3 months results will be visible.According to Massia, the tendering process for construction of approach road in Sector L of Waluj MIDC is completed, but the work is yet to begin. “The availability of a single road leads to frequent breakdown of vehicles, accidents and traffic jams. Absence of an alternate road causes huge inconvenience,” the industry association said.The industry representatives have also raised concerns about a waste dumping site in Sector B. “In an open space, waste is being collected and being burnt for the last one year. It leads to pungent odour and is a threat to hygiene. People working in the neighbouring units are having health issues due to this,” a press release issued by the association said.The demand for the repair and asphalting of all internal roads in Waluj MIDC has also been stressed upon. “The MIDC is perennially ignoring this problem,” the release said.MIDC’s executive engineer said the work order for approach road in Sector L has been issued and the work will begin anytime soon. He added that the tender process for repairing and asphalting internal roads has nearly completed and the work order will be issued in 15 to 20 days. “Certain decisions have been put on hold due to the model code of conduct,” he said.
