Aurangabad: Aurangabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC ) has decided on a uniform for all its staffers, from class I to class IV. The dress code will be implemented from Gudi Padwa on April 6.Officials said a dress code would aim at instilling professionalism, equality and respect for the civic body’s employees. In a meeting of civic officials last week, municipal commissioner Nipun Vinayak proposed the idea of a uniform for all employees of the municipal corporation. His pitch received a positive response from all staffers. A discussion was also held on the colour and type of the uniform, and ultimately a decision was taken in favour of sky blue shirt and navy blue trousers for men and salwar-suits of the same colour for women. Staffers are expected to get uniforms by themselves and AMC is to be embroidered on the shirt pocket. On Wednesday, the revenue officer of the AMC issued a circular in reference of the municipal commissioner’s meeting. All staffers have been directed to come to office with the uniform on April 6, it stated.AMC public relations officer Sanjeev Sonar said the uniform will provide a sense of equality among all employees as all employees of all levels will wear the same uniform. “While on field, the AMC employees will have an identity which will attract responsibility and respect alike,” Sonar said.Incidentally, Vinayak has already started following the dress code. The officer can be seen in sky blue shirt and navy blue trousers during his office hours. Staffers seemed pretty excited about the new development. They said that the implementation of the dress code will boost the morale of the employees and add a professional touch to the job they do.
