Docs discuss cares to be taken during and before pregnancy

The screening has to be done between 11 to 13 weeks of pregnancy and any changes in heart, limb or bowel should be observed by the sonographer to detect a Down Syndrome baby’s birth in advance.Discussing the impact of drug taken by mothers during formative period of pregnancy, Kaushik Mandal, associate professor at Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, said that the first six weeks are crucial for the formation of the fetus.Until the vulnerable period of pregnancy gets over, the doctors can shift the mother to safer drugs to avoid impact on fetus, he added.
