Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In the most significant arrest in the Nanded builder Sanjay Biyanis contract killing case, the Nanded police took custody of 23-year-old Deepak Ranga from the Chandigarh Central Prison.Ranga, who has two known aliases — Dipuna and Sunil Sureshkumar Ranga — was produced before a local court in Nanded on Monday. The court remanded him in 10 day police custody. Nanded superintendent of police Shrikrishna Kokate, while talking to TOI, said, The accused is a contract killer on record. He has at least 10 serious cases registered against him. The SIT probing this contract-killing has arrested 17 accused so far. Rangas arrest is the most important of them all. Kokate said the accused allegedly pulled the trigger of a sophisticated illegally imported firearm to kill the Nanded builder outside his home on April 5, 2022.The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Deepak from UPs Gorakhpur, while he was trying to flee to Nepal, in January this year.Ranga had been behind bars since his arrest by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in January this year. According to the NIA, Deepak is also the main shooter in the RPG attack on the Mohali-based intelligence headquarters of the Punjab Police that took place on May 9, 2022. According to the police, he executed contract killings and terrorist activities on the instructions of Canada-based gangster-turned-terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, alias Landa, and Pakistan-based gangster-turned terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda.Apart from the local residents who provided logistical support for the execution of Biyanis contract killing, the SIT, in June 2022, arrested two accused who are both associated with Lawrence Bishnoi, the gangster whose name cropped in the case of contract killing of singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala. The accused, identified as Rajpalsingh Chandrawat (34) and Yogesh Bhati (30), were taken into custody from Tihar prison, Delhi.Rinda is suspected to be the mastermind of the contract killing in which at least 11 bullets were shot at the 50-year-old builder around 11 am outside his house by the two bike-borne assailants.
