Aurangabad railway station to transport 30k automobiles to different parts of country

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Transport Corporation of India (TCI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 8 with the South Central Railway (SCR), Nanded division, for transporting 30,000 automobiles every year from Aurangabad railway station to other parts of the country.Sarkar — along with Deputy general manager of TCI, Niraj Kumar Pandey and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for Nanded division M Vivekananda and other senior officials — were present at SCRs divisional office in Nanded for the signing.The signed-MoU is expected to open doors for providing sustainable freight traffic to Nanded division, Neeti Sarkar, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for Nanded division, said on Monday.Railway authorities mentioned that the automobiles are to be freight-loaded on a long-term basis which would earn good revenue for the Nanded division.The latest agreement with TCI will help diversify SCRs portfolio of the Nanded division. So far, the SCR has primarily depended on the transportation of agricultural produce from Marathwada region, railway authorities added.Railway activist Raj Somani said the MoU would significantly boost the citys identity as a major automobile hub. "The potential for freight loading in automobile sector was untapped so far. We hope the MoU will give an edge to automobile sector and help in to flourish further, he said.
