AURANGABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to trounce the Congress that has been ruling the civic body in Latur city, home town of the former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, for decades.The BJP that didn't have single representative in the outgoing 70-member general body, has won 38 seats while the Congress could muster victory on 31 seats.The NCP finished a poor third, by winning only a single seat. The Shiv Sena and the MIM have been wiped in the election which was an acid test for the Vilasrao Deshmukh clan especially when the party fought this poll under the leadership of his MLA son, Amit Deshmukh.In Parbhani, however, the Congress emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats and the NCP that has been ruling the civic body finished second with 18 seats.
