AURANGABAD: A whopping 212 HSC students from the Aurangabad division have been barred from appearing in forthcoming supplementary examination, besides cancelation of their performance in March 2016 examination, following their involvement in malpractices.Authorities said such stern action, commonly known as 1+1 punishment, would set as strong deterrent among students in the future. The Aurangabad division of MSBSHE, meanwhile, has also kept on hold result of over 300 students over technical issues such as non-receipt of report on internal assessment among other reasons. Such resolve would also send a strong message to students who work hard throughout the year and appear for examination honestly," authorities said.Besides taking strict action against students, the MSBSHE has also cracked whip against four errant educational institutions by cancelling their recognition as examination centre for future examinations. "As stern action has been taken in 95% malpractice cases, we expect that it would send a strong message among stakeholders that no unfair means would be tolerated during board examinations at any cost.

As part of the 1+1 punishment, the entire performance of 212 students stands cancelled and they will not be allowed to appear for the forthcoming examination," Shishir Ghonmode , acting chairman of Aurangabad division of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHE), said.All malpractice cases registered were related to cheating during examination with no other type of cases such as writing examination using dummy candidate and teacher assistance in wrongdoings were recorded in the five districts of Aurangabad division."As stern action has been taken in 95% malpractice cases, we expect that it would send a strong message among stakeholders that no unfair means would be tolerated during board examinations at any cost. Such resolve would also send a strong message to students who work hard throughout the year and appear for examination honestly," authorities said.Besides taking strict action against students, the MSBSHE has also cracked whip against four errant educational institutions by cancelling their recognition as examination centre for future examinations."Two institutions from Aurangabad district and one each from Jalna and Beed have faced the music for either promoting or indulging in malpractices," he said.It should be noted that Aurangabad divisional commissionerate had specifically asked for installation of CCTV cameras at all examination centres during HSC examination, but compliance on the part of a section of colleges for ensuring such measure could not be ascertained.Aurangabad division of the MSBSHE at its level had formed 35 flying squads in total five districts coming under its jurisdiction, besides separate vigilance teams by the revenue department and district administration.The state board had also identified 15 sensitive centres in Aurangabad division based on high prevalence of malpractices during previous examinations and those were especially on radar during vigilance during examination. The Aurangabad division of MSBSHE, meanwhile, has also kept on hold result of over 300 students over technical issues such as non-receipt of report on internal assessment among other reasons.
