Aurangabad: The standing committee members on Wednesday took the civic administration to task for charging the regular tax payers with 2% interest even as the last date for paying the dues was September 30.Senior Shiv Sena corporator Raju Vaidya drew attention of standing committee chairman Gajanan Barwal towards this and produced a demand note issued by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) that asked him to pay an extra amount of Rs 149. Panzade informed that the work for preparation of the tender document was in progress and the administration was considering several options, whether to invite a single tender or four tenders of Rs 25 crore each.Vaidya also demanded the civic body to follow the PWD pattern as the civic body does not have its own manual. Syed Mateem of the MIM also sought to know whether the Rs 100 crore works included the road between Ravindranagar and Kat Kat Gate. To this, the engineer informed that this road was not on the list.Vaidya also created a stir by alleging that top officials and engineers were being led by a specific group of corporators to big hotels where these officials sing documents and finalise the work details.After the allegations, MIM corporator Sangeeta Waghole sought to know the names of the officials. Vaidya said it would not be proper to declare the names in the meeting, he promised to provide a CD of these activities to the standing committee members.
