Aurangabad: Several students, especially the outstation area students, have expressed a strong displeasure over alleged in-person examination related to the redressal ordered by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU).Students from Beed, Osmanabad and Jalna districts that comes under the jurisdiction of BAMU along with Aurangabad have termed it as wastage of money and time to come all the way to university campus for the desired redressal. As per the BAMU website, it had introduced redressal / revaluation system from the beginning of the university examinations held in March-April 2008.Accordingly, the rules and procedure made for supplying photocopies of answer books to examinee, recounting of marks and grievance redressal mechanism related to evaluation of answer book(s) were declared. However, an official resolve in June this year had modified some of the procedures. As per the rule earlier, the colleges were suppose to form a grievance redressal result committee for every course in respective department in consent with the course teacher and the principal. This committee was solving all grievances relating to the assessment of students. However, the amended rule reads that if any examinee is having any grievance regarding the marks (grade) awarded to him or her upon the receipt of photocopies of answer books, he or she may apply for grievance redressal to the university through the principal in a prescribed form within the prescribed time period.Student activist Tukaram Saraf said, "The amended rules have no clarity and it was unjust on the part of the university to summon students to its doors for resolving the examination related grievances."The earlier process involved a routing redressal to the university through respective colleges. In an attempt to modify the procedure, the university has made it cumbersome for its students now."Students from financially weaker background and from far away places such as Osmanabad and Beed cannot afford expenses to visit Aurangabad for redressal," he added.Students have also demanded the university to frame crystal clear rules to avoid multiple interpretation by different stakeholders. When contacted, the newly appointed controller of examination Satish Dandge said that he was busy in a meeting with the vice-chancellor.Another senior official said. "The redressal related rules have been amended in the wake of implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for PG as well as UG courses. He however refused to comment on controversy over alleged in-person redressal."BAMU, which caters to four Marathwada districts, has a student population of more than 4.44 lakh.
