Shahjahanpur: Police took less than two weeks in filing closure report in an FIR filed against the sons of a BJP MLA on the order of a court here. The complainant in the case has alleged police did not record his statement.An FIR was registered at Nigohi police station in Shahjahanpur district against Sachin Verma and Manoj Verma, sons of BJP MLA Roshanlal Verma, and another person under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily hurting someone) and 392 (robbery) of the IPC on the order of a court. The three men had been accused of attempting to murder the complainant after he refused to bribe them over a pending payment. The incident was reported on September 29, 2017 and the victim, a brick kiln owner named Santosh Verma, had attempted to file an FIR but police allegedly refused to accept his complaint because of the MLA.“The MLA and his sons control police like dictators. UP Police usually takes months to complete an investigation but in this case, they took just 13 days which is unbelievable. I am not surprised that the police has filed a closure report because of pressure from the MLA. However, police didn't bother to speak to me even once and no evidence was collected. I will approach court for action against corrupt policemen and the MLA,” said Santosh.MLA Roshanlal Verma said, “Police found my sons innocent. Actually, people try to defame leaders in every possible way. The complainant in this case is himself a corrupt person and acts as a broker for zila panchayat works. A complaint was filed against him and this is why his payment was stopped by the accounts officer and he attacked my sons to take revenge. I had also filed an FIR against him and his brother and they both were sent to jail.”Station officer of Nigohi police station Suneel Sharma told TOI, “There was no evidence against the accused and the complaint was found to be incorrect, so the investigatng officer filed a closure report.”
