Dalit man pushes ailing wife into river before jumping to death

Shahjahanpur: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old Dalit man pushed his wife, a TB patient, into the Gomti river and later jumped into the river in Khuthar area of Shahjahanpur on Wednesday evening. The couple was accompanied by Rajesh’s cousin Sarvan Kumar, who witnessed that the entire incident and is still in shock. While police have managed to recover the woman’s body, the man’s body is yet to be found. His wife was undergoing ayurvedic treatment for tuberculosis and he was not able to bear the cost of the treatment which pushed him to take the extreme step. He jumped into the river after pushing his wife and ended his life,” a crying Sarvan told reporters.Station officer of Khuthar police station, Birija Ram said, “The man belonged to the Dalit community and was very poor.
