UP: Tractor-trolley overturns, 8 die in Sambhal

BAREILLY: Eight people died and four others were injured after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling overturned on Anupshahr-Gavan road under Rajpura police jurisdiction in Sambhal around 2am on Saturday. The injured were rushed to the district hospital for treatment.Soon after the incident, Sambhal SP RM Bharadwaj along with other officials arrived at the spot to review the rescue work. Officials said that the victims were residents of two neighbouring villages of Moradabad - Bahadurganj and Alampur. "The CM has also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each for those injured," he said. "The tractor-trolley was hit by a truck from behind while overtaking.

Meanwhile, chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.According to police, the victims were involved in the business of carpet manufacturing and they were on their way to Aligarh when the accident took place. "The tractor-trolley was hit by a truck from behind while overtaking. Its driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. Some passers-by informed police on Dial 100 following which we immediately reached to the spot. With the help of a JCB machine, the tractor-trolley was lifted and the bodies buried under it were pulled out," said Rajpura police station SHO Rajkumar Singh.The SP said that the bodies have been sent for postmortem, while the injured have been admitted to the hospital. "The CM has also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each for those injured," he said.
