Police nabs truck driver with smack worth Rs 2.6 lakh

Bareilly: A team of Quila police on Monday arrested a 32-year-old truck driver from Nainital road and seized 262 gram of smack worth Rs 2.62 lakh and cash worth Rs 1.7 lakh.The driver, along with his two aides, was transporting the drug from Jharkhand to supply it in Uttarakhand. Hardeep is a private truck driver, who carries consignment between Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.Quila police station house officer (SHO) Kamlesh Kant Verma said, “The six members of the police team have been working on operation ‘Brown Mission’. We have begun investigation to nab the both accused, who are still at large,” SHO added. We nabbed Hardeep, but his two aides managed to escape.”“During the course of interrogation, accused (Hardeep) disclosed that he used to purchase smack at cheaper price from Jharkhand and sell it in Uttarakhand at higher rates. The trio accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

An FIR has been lodged against them, while the two aides are absconding.The accused has been identified as Hardeep Singh Yadav, 32, his younger brother Dhanne Singh Yadav, 28, and Jaswant Maurya, 35. All the three are residents of Subhashnagar. Hardeep is a private truck driver, who carries consignment between Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.Quila police station house officer (SHO) Kamlesh Kant Verma said, “The six members of the police team have been working on operation ‘Brown Mission’. On Monday, around 11:30 pm, we located them after receiving a tip-off. We nabbed Hardeep, but his two aides managed to escape.”“During the course of interrogation, accused (Hardeep) disclosed that he used to purchase smack at cheaper price from Jharkhand and sell it in Uttarakhand at higher rates. The trio accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. We are investigating their criminal past, if they have any. We have begun investigation to nab the both accused, who are still at large,” SHO added.
