Fire breaks out in women ward of dist hospital, all safe

Someone was saying ‘evacuate the ward immediately’. He told TOI, “We immediately rushed to the hospital after getting the information. Upon opening my eyes, I found smoke everywhere in the ward so we rushed towards the exit door and came out of the hospital. Shahjahanpur: Patients in the labour room of the women’s ward in Shahjahanpur district hospital had a close shave when a fire broke out in an air conditioner installed there due to a short circuit on Thursday morning. The situation was controlled on time by the hospital staff and no casualty was reported.Sources said initially the fire broke out in the labour room and spread to the adjacent surgical ward.

Shahjahanpur: Patients in the labour room of the women’s ward in Shahjahanpur district hospital had a close shave when a fire broke out in an air conditioner installed there due to a short circuit on Thursday morning. The wards were evacuated quickly before smoke engulfed it. The situation was controlled on time by the hospital staff and no casualty was reported.Sources said initially the fire broke out in the labour room and spread to the adjacent surgical ward. As many as 150 patients besides newborns and their mothers, were immediately moved to safer place. The patients were sent back to the wards after about three hours.Fire station officer YadunathSingh along with his team arrived on time and doused the fire. He told TOI, “We immediately rushed to the hospital after getting the information. Fortunately, the fire was doused before it could spread or cause more damage in the hospital. Only an air conditioner and its ducts were burnt. Rest of the hospital is safe.”Manju Devi, a patient, said, “We were sleeping when we heard a commotion. Someone was saying ‘evacuate the ward immediately’. Upon opening my eyes, I found smoke everywhere in the ward so we rushed towards the exit door and came out of the hospital. If I had not came out, I could have died of asphyxiation.”
