Three men on motorcycle throw acid on another biker, flee in Sambhal

Bareilly: Munsad Yaqub, 35, was driving to the market in Sambhal on Saturday on his motorcycle when three men on another motorcycle, suddenly threw acid on him and drove away. He had come home to celebrate Eid with his family and friends.The acid victim said he got married around seven years ago with Mehanz of Miyan Sarai locality in Sambhal. “When I reached near Pavansa village, three people on a speeding motorcycle chased me and one of the pillion riders threw acid from a container on me. Initially, we didn’t pay heed to them but when relatives started taunting us, it became difficult to put up with it. He was referred to a higher facility in Moradabad later in the day, police said.

As he fell on the road withering in pain, passersby came to his rescue and informed the police who rushed him hospital.Munsad sustained burns on his right side, including his face and arm. He was referred to a higher facility in Moradabad later in the day, police said. Before leaving for Moradabad, the victim alleged that his estranged wife’s paramour and two others had attacked him.A resident of Bhuda Saraitarin under Hayatnagar police station area, Munsad is a taxi driver in Mumbai. He had come home to celebrate Eid with his family and friends.The acid victim said he got married around seven years ago with Mehanz of Miyan Sarai locality in Sambhal. “Since we do not have achild, people started criticizing us. Initially, we didn’t pay heed to them but when relatives started taunting us, it became difficult to put up with it. It also gradually turned my married life into hell. We started to fight with each other.”Munsad said since he worked in Mumbai, his wife refused to stay with his parents and other family members at his Saraitarin house without him and went back to her parents’ house. She would only visit him when he came home from Mumbai. But this arrangement did not work for long.This time when Munsad came home for Eid, Mehanz did not come to stay with him.On Saturday, around noon, when Munsad was going to Bahjoi on his motorcycle, he was attacked. “When I reached near Pavansa village, three people on a speeding motorcycle chased me and one of the pillion riders threw acid from a container on me. Before I could realise what had happened to me, they fled. The acid singed my body,” he said.Doctors at the government hospital said his condition was serious and referred him to a higher facility in Moradabad.Additional superintendent of police Pankaj Pandey said, “The matter has come to our knowledge. We are yet to receive any complaint in the matter to register an FIR. The injured man has been sent Moradabad. Once the complaint is lodged by him, appropriate action will be taken accordingly.”Munsad ‘s family is said to have accompanied him to Moradabad for treatment. Police are awaiting for them to come back and lodge a complaint,
