Cops use games & sports to educate kids on sexual crimes

Moradabad: Police officials on Saturday used a unique strategy to indulge with children and educate them about sexual crimes and offences. The city cops, who are mostly seen acting tough with notorious elements, organized a game of snakes and ladders for children and tried to tell them about the Protection of children from sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.The local police also organized events like kabaddi, khokho, among others, at Sonakpur stadium. SSP J Ravindra Gaur actively participated in the event along with the general public.Officials said that police have devised a unique method to interact with people, especially children, which is titled ‘Jantagiri — ek soch’. In Saturday’s event, more than 150 policemen of different ranks were involved, trying their bit to build a bond with the younger generation.Speaking with TOI, SP (city) Ankit Mittal said, “That snakes and ladders game board had information about POCSO Act. Through the game, we tried to tell children that the person who acts in their interest gets to climb the ladder, while the one who tries to harm them is bitten by snake.”“Through the event, we tried to achieve the dual goal of spreading awareness and promoting physical fitness among the youngsters,” added the SP.
