Four years on, 21 injured travellers yet to receive compensation

We are looking into all such matters. Similarly, a compensation of Rs 50,000 each was to be provided to the 21 injured passengers, which they are yet to receive.As the state government has started issuing notices to district administrations, demanding utilisation certificates in all those cases where the government had released compensation amount in the past, the matter of 21 deprived beneficiaries came to the fore.ADM said, “The government releases compensation from the CM relief fund on time, but it is not being provided to the person concerned. Despite the then SP government had released the funds on time, the victims are yet to receive it.Additional district magistrate (city) OP Singh said, “Such negligence cannot be tolerated, and disciplinary action will be taken against the officials concerned.”On May 28, 2014, 12 people were killed and 42 others had sustained injuries after the driver of a private bus they were travelling in lost control over the vehicle and hit a tree on Bareilly-Shahjahanpur road under Fatehpur East police station area.After the incident, the state government had released Rs 81 lakh to provide ex gratia to the victims’ families, and Rs 5 lakh each was provided to each of the 12 families.
