BAREILLY: A person who was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS ) Act, 1985, and was about to face court in few days committed suicide on Tuesday morning under Chandausi police station area.Police said Badan Singh’s body was found hanging from a mango tree in Ganesh colony on Guldehara road and added that they have recovered a suicide note from him. His body has been sent for a post-mortem.“We recovered a suicide note from his pocket in which he had written about the NDPS case lodged against him. He further wrote that nobody can save him from landing in jail and it would be better to end his life rather than be sent to jail. We have sent the body for autopsy,” SHO of Chanausi police station Amit Kumar told TOI.Police said the 30-year-old accused was charged under NDPS Act eight years ago and the case was running against him at a local court.Singh, a truck driver, was caught carrying narcotic substances in 2010. Police said that he had been under depression for a while and was afraid that he would be found guilty and sent to prison.
