Shahjahanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold UP’s first ‘Kisan Kalyan’ rally in Shahjahanpur on July 21. BJP sources told TOI that during his visit to the district, the PM will be highlighting his government’s pro-farmer measures such as revised MSP for crops and direct benefit transfer scheme.Ahead of his visit, BJP workers from neighbouring districts have been instructed to start preparing for the event and ensure that it is a grand success. Sources said that the primary objective behind the rally is to establish a direct connect with farmers and tell them how the central government has planned to double their income by 2022.With farmers from Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Hardoi, Sitapur, Bareilly, Badaun and Rampur districts participating in the event, the BJP is expecting a crowd of around 2 lakh people for the event.Meanwhile, police and local intelligence unit have started making security arrangements. Officials said that cops from other parts of the state will be deployed here.DPS Rathore, general secretary of BJP’s Shahjahanpur district unit, told TOI, “Shahjahanpur has been chosen for the first ‘Kisan Kalyan’ rally because of its high agricultural productivity. Powayan tehsil here is the most productive sub-division of the state. Senior party leaders like Sunil Bansal, JPS Rathore, BL Agarwal, Suresh Khanna and Krishna Raj are expected to be present for the rally.”
