PTR officials to take steps to prevent deaths due to snake bite, crocodile attack

Pilibhit: In an attempt to prevent deaths due to snake bites and crocodile attacks, authorities of the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve are planning to take several steps in association with non-governmental organisations to minimise such cases in the region. These measures will include spreading awareness among locals and holding training sessions for officials.Adarsh Kumar, deputy director of PTR, said, “The plan is to spread awareness among villagers about preventive measures and rescue process. These personnel will hold training sessions at the village level and the process will continue till the lessons reach the grassroots level,” he added.Dr CM Chaturvedi, additional chief medical officer of Pilibhit, said, “Snake antivenom is available in adequate quantity at every primary and community health centre as well as the district hospital.” This will also include the training of villagers on how to save the life of a person bitten by a snake or attacked by a crocodile.”“In the first phase, we will arrange training for our range officers, deputy rangers, forest inspectors etc so that we can develop a team of our own trainers.
