100 challans issued in 2 days for illegal parking in city

Bareilly: Traffic police here has launched a special drive against illegal parking in the city and issued around 100 challans over the past two days. On Tuesday, over 50 challans were issued to offenders. Besides, a few vehicles parked in no-parking zone were towed away and sent to Police Lines on Tuesday.”According to traffic police, public transport vehicles were also checked for overcrowding. The stretch already reels under heavy traffic flow as the road leads to the Old Roadways bus stand adjacent to Novelty crossing. With illegally parked vehicles occupying major portions of the roads on both sides, it led to frequent traffic snarl-ups.”Bahadur added, “On Monday, as many as 50 challans were issued to those who had illegally parked their vehicles or who were caught parking in no-parking zone.

Bareilly: Traffic police here has launched a special drive against illegal parking in the city and issued around 100 challans over the past two days. Police are also checking commuters travelling on the footboards of crowded buses in the city and its outskirts.Officers at the traffic police department said the drive is aimed at freeing road spaces from randomly parked vehicles for ensuring a free flow of traffic.The traffic police launched the campaign against illegal parking at Circuit House-Novelty Crossing stretch and issued challans in these areas.Speaking with TOI, superintendent of police, traffic, Kamlesh Bahadur said, “We noticed the rising number of vehicles and traffic jams at Citcuit House and Novelty crossing stretch in the Civil Lines area with commuters parking their vehicles along road sides. The stretch already reels under heavy traffic flow as the road leads to the Old Roadways bus stand adjacent to Novelty crossing. With illegally parked vehicles occupying major portions of the roads on both sides, it led to frequent traffic snarl-ups.”Bahadur added, “On Monday, as many as 50 challans were issued to those who had illegally parked their vehicles or who were caught parking in no-parking zone. Buses with commuters hanging out from footboards and windows were immediately stopped and the drivers were issued challaned.Last week, the traffic police had launched a crackdown against minors driving two wheelers and challaned as many as 44 schoolchildren. Traffic personnel were deployed outside schools and coaching centres to nab the offenders.
