Pilibhit to plant 2.83 Lakh saplings by August 15

The highest target of planting 63,682 saplings was assigned to rural development department, while the department of sericulture was given target of merely 1,323 small trees.“The forest department, including social forestry and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, will plant as many as 24,944 saplings on August 15. PILIBHIT: In a bid to achieve the target of planting nine crore saplings by Independence Day across the state, the Pilibhit administration has been entrusted with the responsibility of planting 2.83 lakh saplings.The target was assigned by UP chief secretary Anoop Chandra Pandey, who announced district-wise targets during a video conferencing meet on Friday.According to divisional director of social forestry Sanjeev Kumar , who has also been designated as the nodal officer for the plantation campaign in Pilibhit, the state government has engaged around 25 government departments in the district for the plantation drive.The departments have been instructed to identify the spots for plantation and excavate the pits as soon as possible.
