Two relatives of NRI Gupta bros die in accident, 3 injured airlifted to a Doon hospital

Bareilly: Two relatives of the NRI Gupta brothers died in a road accident after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a truck parked on the roadside on Deoband-Saharanpur highway, under Deoband police station, around 9.30 am on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Manju Gupta, 70, and Namita Gupta, 34. Two others are in critical condition in a Dehradun hospital.Deoband circle officer Siddharth (who goes by his first name only) told TOI, “One person died on the spot and the other died in hospital. Two others are in critical condition in a hospital in Dehradun in Uttarakhand.” Police said a private chopper had airlifted the injured to Dehradun.They family was returning to their native place in Saharanpur after arriving in Delhi from Dubai, where they had gone to attend the engagement ceremony of Atul Gupta’s son Srikant Gupta.A close aide of the Guptas, Jawed Sabari who looks after their business and other affairs in Saharanpur, told TOI that Anshul Gupta and his family were coming straight from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi when the accident took place. Anshul is brother-in-law of Atul Gupta. On reaching Muzaffarnagar, Anshul dropped the driver and took the wheel. He must have dozed off and their car hit the truck,” Sabari said.Soon after the incident, police rushed all the injured to the nearest community health center where doctors declared Namita Gupta dead on arrival.
