Bareilly: A 14-year-old girl, who is the daughter of an Army jawan, was sexually harassed allegedly by three boys in Cantonment area when she was returning from her coaching class on Thursday evening. However, an Army major , who was passing by, nabbed the boys while one managed to flee.The major handed over the accused to the police, and the duo was sent to a juvenile home. An FIR was lodged against the three accused.Cantonment police station house officer (SHO) Dharmendra Gupta said, “All the three accused are residents of Cantonment area. One of the accused studies in the same class IX of the victim. The trio were sexually harassing the girl since two weeks. On Thursday at 6:40 pm, the girl was returning to her house from coaching class. The girl’s father was on his duty. When the girl was on its way, the trio, who were riding a motorbike, suddenly blocked her way near a bank at Cantonment road. They started to make obscene comments, and later tried to assault her .”“Meanwhile, a man, who is a major in the army, was passing by from the spot. After seeing the Army man, the trio tried to escape, but two of them were caught by him,” Gupta added.The police said the victim’s father filed a complaint and an FIR has been lodged under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354-D (any man who follows a woman and contacts her repeatedly despite disinterest by such woman) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt); and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.“We have sent the two minor accused to juvenile home, and are conducting raids to nab the remaining one,” Gupta said.
