Hit by UPSRTC bus, 20-year-old girl dies

Bareilly: A speeding UPSRTC bus on Saturday hit a 20-year-old girl when she was crossing the road at Meerganj. An FIR was lodged against him.The deceased was identified as Nemvati, a resident of Samastpur village under Meerganj police station. We chased the bus for 20km and nabbed the accused driver near Ahladpur police check post. The bus, which was coming from New Delhi, was heading towards to Bareilly. We sent the injured girl to the nearby hospital, where she died during treatment.

Bareilly: A speeding UPSRTC bus on Saturday hit a 20-year-old girl when she was crossing the road at Meerganj. The bus, which was coming from New Delhi, was heading towards to Bareilly. The deceased was a BA final year student and was also working as a nurse in a private hospital.Soon after the accident, police nabbed the bus driver near Ahladpur village, around 20km from the incident spot. An FIR was lodged against him.The deceased was identified as Nemvati, a resident of Samastpur village under Meerganj police station. She is survived by her mother, grandfather and four younger brothers. Nemvati was a BA final year student in a government degree college. For the last two years, she had been working as a nurse at private hospital in Fatehganj west.The deceased’s grandfather, Janki Prasad, said, “Her father Ram Kumar died three years ago. We have very little ancestor land and have been surviving on income generated from it. She was supporting the entire family.”Meerganj police station house officer Ajay Kumar said, “After receiving information about the incident, we rushed to the spot. We sent the injured girl to the nearby hospital, where she died during treatment. We chased the bus for 20km and nabbed the accused driver near Ahladpur police check post. The victim’s body was later sent for postmortem.”An FIR has been lodged in the matter under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
