Amroha: Wrapped in a plastic bag, a newborn girl was found abandoned at Mata Lalita Devi temple in Gajrola on Tuesday early morning.After devotes heard her cries, they informed police control room. She was completely wrapped by a plastic cover, and then with a thin towel.”“Constables removed the plastic cover and rescued the newborn girl. They admitted baby to hospital.Station house officer (SHO) of Gajrola police station Ashok Sharma told TOI, “The baby was invisible. The newborn was immediately shifted to the community health centre (CHC) in Gajrola,” said Sharma.At CHC, Dr Yogendr Singh examined her, said SHO. If her biological parents do not turn up to claim her custody, then the baby will be shifted to an orphanage in Rampur.

The baby’s umbilical cord was not yet removed, and it appeared that she was not cleaned after her birth. The newborn was immediately shifted to the community health centre (CHC) in Gajrola,” said Sharma.At CHC, Dr Yogendr Singh examined her, said SHO. “The doctor told police that the baby’s heartbeat was fine, but she was feeling very cold. They shifted her to an incubator.”Speaking to TOI, Dr Singh said, “The baby was delivered only 2-3 hours before when she was brought to the CHC. Now, she has been taken out of the incubator. She is healthy and doing fine. Her breathing and pulse are normal.”Earlier, when the news of a cute abandoned baby had spread in the city, hundreds of residents thronged police station and hospital with desire to adopt her.Amroha Child welfare Committee president Harpal Singh Chauhan said, “The picture of the baby has been circulated. If her biological parents do not turn up to claim her custody, then the baby will be shifted to an orphanage in Rampur. Later, she will be listed for adoption in accordance with the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) guidelines.”According to SHO, one of the sub inspectors has also expressed his desire to adopt the baby.
