Bareilly: Police on Friday arrested three men for gang-raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident had happened more than a week ago in Girdharpur village under Devraniya police station but came to light only on Friday, after the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother and the latter approached police.On September 5, the accused, Dharmveer, Rakesh and Khandari, who happen to be related to the minor, raped her when she went to attend the birthday party of Dharmveer’s son at Girdharpur village. They also threatened to kill her if she spilled the beans. On Friday morning, an FIR under section 370D (gang rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act was lodged. Police arrested the trio from Girdharpur village.Devraniya police station house officer (SHO) Manoj Kumar said, “At around 8 am, the survivor and her mother reached the police station. Narrating her ordeal, her mother said that on September 5, Dharmveer had invited her to his son’s birthday party at his house in Girdharpur village. It was Rakesh who took her to Dharmveer’s house. As the party was outside the house, the trio sneaked the girl inside and gang-raped her. They then threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident. Scared, the girl didn’t say anything until Friday morning.”“After getting information about the incident, we immediately rushed to Girdharpur village. At around 2:30 pm, we conducted raids and nabbed the three accused. Our investigation is underway and we have sent the survivor to the district hospital for medical examination. After a complaint was filed by the girl’s mother, an FIR was lodged under section 376D (gang rape) of IPC and sections of the POCSO Act,” Kumar added.
