Bareilly fever deaths: SP seeks Rs 20 lakh compensation for kin of deceased

Bareilly: In the wake of 39 fever deaths in the district, the Samajwadi Party on Friday demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh each for the families of the deceased.Subhlesh Yadav, SP district president, said, “Majority of people who have died of fever belong to very poor families. The family is so poor that it cannot even afford to cremate the deceased’s body. We have sent a proposal to the state government seeking its permission to demolish this building so that a new structure can be constructed,” said Bareilly chief medical officer Dr Vineet Shukla.

There are several such cases in the district,” Yadav said, adding that since most causalities have been reported from Aonla sub-division, UP irrigation minister Dharampal Singh’s constituency, he should ensure proper treatment for patients there.Meanwhile, after state health minister Sidharth Nath Singh pointed at waterlogging at Jagatpur urban primary health centre earlier this week, the health department on Friday decided to shift the medical facility to a rented building. “We will soon shift the health centre to a rented building. We have sent a proposal to the state government seeking its permission to demolish this building so that a new structure can be constructed,” said Bareilly chief medical officer Dr Vineet Shukla.
