Shahjahanpur: A UP police constable, deployed as the gunner of Lakhimpur Kheri's additional superintendent of police, Ghanshyam Chaurasia, committed suicide inside his house on Monday morning. His body was found hanging from the fan in his room in Sikatia colony of Lakhimpur city under Lakhimpur Kotwali police station. The reason behind his taking the extreme step is not yet known.The deceased, Ravi Kumar (24), was a native of Baghpat district and had joined UP police in 2016. He got married seven months ago and was living with his wife in Lakhimpur. However, at the time of the incident, he was alone in the house. Informed about his sudden death, his family members were on their way to Lakhimpur at the time of filing this report. Meanwhile, police have sent the body for post mortem.“Ravi Kumar was quite an energetic person, who was full of life. He got married to the woman he loved seven months ago and everything was pretty fine in his life. His suicide has come as a shock for us. There weren’t many issues in his life except for getting leaves from the department,” said a constable who enjoyed a good rapport with Ravi.SHO of Lakhimpur Kotwali police station, Ashok Pandey, said, “Initial investigation suggests that Ravi committed suicide, but we haven’t recovered any suicide note from the room. We are waiting for the autopsy report to confirm the reason of his death. We will record the statement of the family members once they arrive in Lakhimpur.”
