Shahjahanpur: After the issue of fake beneficiaries of widow pension in Amredi and Jaitipur villages of Jaitipur block was raised by the Katra MLA during a meeting with district magistrate Amrit Tripathi recently, a probe was ordered into the matter. During the preliminary investigation, Tilhar SDM Moinul Islam found 112 fake beneficiaries, some of who didn’t even live in Jaitipur, but had been receiving pension in their account for years. On Tuesday, the DM ordered an FIR against these fake beneficiaries and the officers who cleared their files.Earlier, 280 fake beneficiaries of pension meant for disabled persons were detected. An FIR was registered against four officials, including the former district disability officer.In the present case, the issue came to the fore after MLA Veer Vikram Singh received complaints from Amredi and Jaitipur villages. He collected evidences against a few fake beneficiaries and shared it with the DM. Tilhar SDM investigated this matter and found 112 beneficiaries to be fake. The heads of Amredi and Jaitipur also confirmed the discrepancy.DM Amrit Tripathi told TOI, “We have found 112 fake beneficiaries from Jaitipur. The number might increase when we start verifying the beneficiaries from other blocks. This is a serious issue and the culprits would not be spared. I have ordered an FIR against these 112 women.”“I received a few complaints about some women from outside the village who were getting pension in their account. In some cases, the beneficiary’s husband was found to be alive. I shared the information with the district magistrate and asked him to take action,” MLA Veer Vikram Singh said.
