Bike lifter in Qila turns out to be suspended constable

It turned out that the accused, Sanjay, was a constable and had been suspended from duty roughly five months ago. On being asked the reason, Sanjay said that he was a constable posted at Bithari police station but had been suspended for drinking while on duty. Gupta said that after lodging an FIR against the accused under section 378 of IPC (theft), they sent him to jail. They then dragged him to the police station.As soon as Sanjay reached the police station, he greeted inspector Dharmendra Gupta there like a cop. Hearing the din, neighbours gathered at the spot and started thrashing the accused.

Bareilly: After residents of Qila area handed over a man they had caught trying to steal a motorcycle to police, the man promptly saluted a senior cop with a “jai hind” at the police station, leaving the latter perplexed. It turned out that the accused, Sanjay, was a constable and had been suspended from duty roughly five months ago. Sanjay, in his thirties, was sent to jail on Wednesday and the incident has left the police department red-faced.The constable was allegedly trying to kick start the two-wheeler with a master key, which was parked outside the home of its owner, one Rachit Jaitley, who lives near Dauji temple in Qila area. Jaitley’s friends spotted him and raised an alarm. Hearing the din, neighbours gathered at the spot and started thrashing the accused. They then dragged him to the police station.As soon as Sanjay reached the police station, he greeted inspector Dharmendra Gupta there like a cop.
