BMC to shift to new four-storey building

Besides, the old building of BMC has become weak over time and there is a need to shift the staff. Anyone who needs to get work done at BMC often has to go from building to building. BMC’s administrative block will be set up on the ground floor of the upcoming four-storey building while construction department and accounting department will be housed on the first floor. The BMC authority has decided to construct a new four-storey building where all the departments will be shifted.For this purpose, a “bhoomi poojan” ceremony was organized on Thursday morning on a plot, within the existing BMC premises in the Civil Lines area. The main idea behind developing a new building of BMC is to provide better working environment to the employees.

Maria Khan|TNNBareilly: After being cooped up in dingy offices in the old and dilapidated buildings housing the Bareilly Municipal Corporation, its staff can now look forward to a more spacious and airy accommodation in the near future. The BMC authority has decided to construct a new four-storey building where all the departments will be shifted.For this purpose, a “bhoomi poojan” ceremony was organized on Thursday morning on a plot, within the existing BMC premises in the Civil Lines area. The new civic body building, comprising four storeys, will be constructed on this plot. It will incorporate all nagar nigam departments— construction department, a board meeting hall, smart city wing, tax department and water department among others — all under one roof, said civic body officials.The cost of constructing the new four-storey building is estimated to be Rs 12 crore and construction will be started within a couple of days, said municipal commissioner RK Shrivastava.As of now, various BMC departments are scattered across various buildings within the same complex. Anyone who needs to get work done at BMC often has to go from building to building. Once the new building comes up, all work will be done under one roof.Speaking with TOI, executive engineer in BMC’s construction department Sanjay Singh Chauhan said, “A land measuring 1,754 square metres has been identified within the existing premises of Bareilly Nagar Nigam. BMC’s administrative block will be set up on the ground floor of the upcoming four-storey building while construction department and accounting department will be housed on the first floor. The second floor will have a board meeting hall, offices of the tax and water departments whereas smart city wing hall will be on the third floor.”The executive engineer added, “The offices will be air-conditioned, spacious and well-furnished. The main idea behind developing a new building of BMC is to provide better working environment to the employees. Besides, the old building of BMC has become weak over time and there is a need to shift the staff. A common parking lot will also be developed around the building for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers and the parking space will be able to accommodate around 200 vehicles at a time.”
