Bareilly: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man in a village under Fatehganj West police station’s jurisdiction on Thursday early morning. The girl was sleeping in her balcony when the accused barged into her house and raped her. An FIR has been lodged against the accused though he is yet to be nabbed.On Thursday morning, the girl’s father lodged a written complaint with the police after the girl confided the incident to him.Fatehganj West police station house officer (SHO) Shiv Deen Verma, said, “The accused has been identified as one Akash, who works as a labourer and is also the neighbour of the rape survivor. On Thursday around 2:30am, when the girl was sleeping alone at the balcony of her house, the accused Akash jumped her house’s three-foot long boundary and entered the balcony. He inserted cloth into the girl’s mouth and raped her. After the incident, she narrated the assault to her father. Her father and some villagers went to the accused’s house but he had fled by then. The girl’s father then rushed to the police station and lodged the complaint.”“After getting information about the incident, I along with other officials reached the accused’s location but he was missing. We sent the girl to the district hospital for her medical examination. An FIR has been lodged under sections 376 (rape), 452 (house-trespass alter preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of IPC and POCSO Act. We are conducting raids to nab the accused and he will be arrested soon and sent to jail,” Verma added.
