Bareilly: A woman has approached the National Commission for Schedule Castes (NCSC) alleging that her Dalit neighbour has threatened to lodge a police complaint against her and her family under the SC/ST Atrocity Act if they do not stop using their newly constructed toilet. The commission has directed district magistrate V K Singh to look into the matter and send report by October 8.Seema Baghel, an OBC, had constructed a toilet in her house some time ago. Her neighbour was not happy about it. In June, her neighbour blocked the common drain that connects to their toilet. However, after the intervention of the sub divisional magistrate, the drain was open.“Now, my neighbour is threatening to fix my family under SC/ST Act. Not only that, he has again blocked the drain and all the sewage is spilling over on the lane,” said Baghel.After the receiving the complaint. assistant director, NCSC, Tarun Khanna, has written to the commission to take note of the matter and act against the culprits.According to Baghel’s brother Abhishek, “SDM Kuvanr Pankaj had resolved the matter between us and our neighbour, Shravan Kumar, had signed a written agreement saying he had no objection to the matter. Now, he is repeatedly threatening us.”The DM has tasked the ADM (city) to investigate the matter and produce the action taken report at the earliest.
