We are investigating the matter.” Bareilly: Tension gripped Ghansauli village of Badaun district on Saturday after some unsocial elements blackened a statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar installed on the campus of a primary school.Later, villagers cleaned the statue, and lodged a complaint, following which an FIR was registered at Ughaiti police station.According to villagers, on Saturday morning, they found the face of Ambedkar’s statue blackened.In a written complaint to police, they alleged that the statue was blackened and some unsocial elements tried to vandalise it.They further stated that the “act was done to insult the leader of our community, and hence, we all are angry with the incident”.Superintendent of police (rural) Surender Pratap Singh said, “An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
