Upset over loss of jewellery, woman, 30, commits suicide

“We have been waiting for the postmortem report, and will take further steps if the cause of the woman’s death was found to be other than suicide,” said SHO. Pilibhit: After her husband failed to get her jewellery back from the moneylender he had borrowed Rs 10,000 to start a business, a 30-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Gajraula Sahrai village under Gajraula police station on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.Police said when her husband woke up in the morning he found the woman hanging, and informed police. The body was sent for autopsy.According to her husband Vijay Pal, his wife Parvati Devi was disturbed at the loss of her jewellery, said police.Pal told police that he had lent Rs 10,000 to start a business of chat vending by depositing his wife’s jewellery as security with local money lender Satish Chandra.But, he suffered a loss in his business and could not get her jewellery released from the moneylender, said police.Pal said last night, he went to bed along with wife and their two children, and when they were asleep, Parvati took the extreme step.The woman is survived by Pal and their one-year-old son Aman and three-year-old daughter Priyanshi.Gajraula police station SHO Mohammad Qasim said police had received no complaint in the matter.
