Although our health teams have been working across the district, their focus is on Aonla sub-division.”According to sources, there are many villages under Majhgavan and Bhamora and more than 60 PF cases have been diagnosed in each village.According to officials, the density of mosquitoes is higher in Majhgavan and Bhamora due to presence of large number of waterbodies and stagnant water in paddy fields after rains. After identifying sensitive villages on the basis of maximum number of cases, the health department is conducting larvicidal spray in houses. Intensive fogging is also being carried out there. “As the district administration has procured 100 fogging machines, we are planning to conduct mass fogging first in 100 affected villages of Majhgavan, followed by villages in Bhamora,” said an official. With the detection of 411 cases of deadly malaria strain on Monday, the total figure of PF climbed to 5,615 in Bareilly district. As 693 people diagnosed with plasmodium vivax (PV) on Monday, the cumulative malaria figure stood at 11,408 in the district. As many as 46 people died of fever in the past one month, but the official data for fever-related deaths is 24. On Monday, fogging was carried out in 25 villages, while larvicidal spray was carried out in 51 villages.“The lifespan of a mosquito is considered to be 28 to 32 days. If no fresh PF case is reported from a given area in the next 32 days, it will be assumed that the area has no mosquito with PF parasite. We have continuously been working to contain mosquito breeding, besides providing immediate treatment to infected persons,” said the official.
