Badaun: A 12-year-old boy was hit by a bullet shot by a drunk guest during a pre-wedding ceremony at Abhaypur village under Hazratpur police station area in Badaun district on Saturday evening. Following a complaint lodged by deceased’s father against the accused, an FIR has been lodged against Nanhe under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and sections of the Arms Act,” said Chauhan.

Badaun: A 12-year-old boy was hit by a bullet shot by a drunk guest during a pre-wedding ceremony at Abhaypur village under Hazratpur police station area in Badaun district on Saturday evening. He succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. The 35-year-old accused was arrested on Sunday evening and sent to jail.According to Hazratpur police station house officer Rakesh Chauhan, “The deceased was identified as Vivek Singh, a resident of Abhaypur village, His father Pramod Singh is a farmer. A neighbour, Surendra Singh, had invited the family at his residence for the ‘tilak’ ceremony of his son on Saturday evening. Around 150 people had gathered at the party. Surendra’s relative, Nanhe, 35, of the same village, joined the revelry and in a state of drunkenness allegedly started brandishing his .315 bore countrymade pistol and fired in the air. The bullet hit Vivek in the stomach. The boy was playing with some children near Nanhe. He fell down unconscious. In the melee, Nanhe slipped away.”Someone called Dial 100 and informed police. By the time police reached the spot, Nanhe was missing. “On Sunday evening, we nabbed him. Following a complaint lodged by deceased’s father against the accused, an FIR has been lodged against Nanhe under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and sections of the Arms Act,” said Chauhan. The weapon has also been seized.Police are also examining if there was any enmity between the families of the deceased and accused.
