Public Works Department begins fixing of damaged roads in Bareilly

BAREILLY: The Public Works Department (PWD), on Tuesday, began fixing the roads that were damaged due to heavy rainfall. Officials at PWD Bareilly said that the department aims to get the repair works done before Deepawali. “ The repairing cost of the roads has been estimated at Rs 4 crore and all damaged roads of PWD will be covered under the repairing exercise. We have initiated our work with Choupla road, one of the most damaged stretches in the city. The department, has initiated with repairing the damaged Choupla stretch and will be repairing five other prominent roads of PWD including— Collector Ganj, Bareilly Mini Bypass-Quila road, Faridpur-Bisalpur road, Bareilly-Mathura Chawni road and Pilibhit road.

The department, has initiated with repairing the damaged Choupla stretch and will be repairing five other prominent roads of PWD including— Collector Ganj, Bareilly Mini Bypass-Quila road, Faridpur-Bisalpur road, Bareilly-Mathura Chawni road and Pilibhit road. Officials at PWD Bareilly said that the department aims to get the repair works done before Deepawali. The roads have been lying unattended for couple of months, giving harrowing traffic time to commuters.Speaking to TOI, Rakesh Rajvanshi , PWD Bareilly division chief engineer said, “The department has made an action plan to repair the city roads that were damaged during rains and we will be working on the plan accordingly. The six roads/prominent stretches of PWD that are lying damaged will be repaired. We have initiated our work with Choupla road, one of the most damaged stretches in the city. The stretch is the most prominent and used by many on a daily basis and hence, is being repaired first.”The PWD, had earlier, sorted for the funds from the state government to carry out repair and maintenance of the damaged roads. “ The repairing cost of the roads has been estimated at Rs 4 crore and all damaged roads of PWD will be covered under the repairing exercise. It is expected that the work of repairing the stretches is completed by the end of this month,” Rajvanshi added.
