School building collapse in Bareilly: Toll rises to four

BAREILLY: With the death of one more survivor in Lucknow on Tuesday, the death toll in the Shahjahanpur school building collapse reached four.The victim, Vijay Pratap (19), was referred to a higher facility in Lucknow late on Sunday in view of fatal head injuries and multiple fractures in various body parts. However, his condition deteriorated and he succumbed during the course of treatment.The roof of the under-construction school building collapsed in Roza area here on Sunday afternoon, killing three and injuring 15 labourers.The condition of other survivors is stated to be stable, but two of them may suffer permanent disability as iron rod pierced through their legs.The district administration on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 12 lakh each for the next of the deceased’s kin.
