Two weeks after death, thirty five-year-old man’s body exhumed for autopsy

BAREILLY: More than two weeks after a man in Pilibhit died under mysterious circumstances, police on Tuesday exhumed his body following orders of district magistrate (DM) Akhilesh Kumar Mishra. Tehsildar of Bilsanda circle, Rakesh Verma, said, “The body was sent for an autopsy on Tuesday. The 35-year-old deceased’s wife has alleged that local cops had refused to conduct a postmortem and forced his family to bury the body immediately after his death. She requested the DM on Monday to get the body exhumed in order to elicit the exact cause of death through an autopsy.According to police, the incident occurred on September 28 at Marauri Khas village under Bilsanda police station. The man, Hussain Bakhsh, worked as a labourer in the fields of one Jaskaran Singh, also a resident of the same village.

Bakhsh’s wife, Chaman Bano, has alleged that the former was called by Singh on September 27 to spray pesticides on the crop.“Bakhsh had allegedly fainted while spraying but I was later told that he was bitten by a venomous snake . Singh then took him to a doctor but he died the next day,” Bano said.Superintendent of police (SP) Balendu Bhushan Singh has also ordered Bilsanda police station to lodge an FIR against Singh under section 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 284 (negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance). Tehsildar of Bilsanda circle, Rakesh Verma, said, “The body was sent for an autopsy on Tuesday. The family will be awarded compensation under government schemes in accordance with the findings of the report.”
