Moradabad: The officials of the Food and Security Department have seized 28 quintal of sweets (worth Rs 8 lakhs) from a house in the city on Monday morning. The officials also seized the house as the adulterated sweets were made to be sold there.The raids were carried out inside the jurisdiction of Dilari police station area. The samples from the seized items have also been sent to the state laboratory to ascertain the adulteration report.Speaking to TOI, district food security officer, Vinod Kumar, said, "Due to the festive season, the state government has directed to inspect the sweets and other eatable items for adulteration. Today, we received the information of that adulterated sweets are being prepared inside the house of Intaizar Ahmad at Dilari. We rushed to the spot and seized 20 quintal milk cake and 8 quintal Barfi after we found refined oil and powder milk being used for manufacturing sweets. The seized sweets have been sent to the laboratory for tests.”On Saturday, the officials had seized the six quintal Rasgulla's from a sweet shop and had ordered to destroyed them on spot in the neighbouring Bhojpur area. Oil packets and cheap quality milk powder was also recovered from the shop.
