Villagers booked for killing tigress in Dudhwa; autopsy shows bid to take out teeth, nails

Meanwhile, the panel of doctors who conducted autopsy on the tigress said that multiple incised and stabbed wounds caused her traumatic shock and death.Following a complaint filed by a forest guard, Mohan Ram, posted in Mailani forest area of DTR, an FIR has been lodged against the accused under IPC’s sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to any public servant in the discharge of his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke the breach of peace), 427 (committing mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards), 342 (wrongful confinement of any person) and sections 9, 27, 31, 51 (1) of the Wildlife Protection Act.“The accused are on the run but police have formed special teams to trace and arrest them,” said Atar Singh, station house officer, Seramau North police station.A team of four veterinarians belonging to Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Wildlife Trust of India, Lucknow zoo and animal husbandry department conducted post-mortem of the tigress and said multiple incised and stabbed wounds caused traumatic shock and death of the big cat.“It was also found that the killers had attempted to break the big cat’s canines and remove the nails from its paws.
