BAREILLY: A 31-year-old Sub-inspector (SI) Shrikant, who was posted in Aonla police station, died in a road accident after the four-wheeler, in which he was on night patrolling along with other cops, rammed into a tree at Aonla- Bareilly road on Saturday morning. Two home guards and one constable also sustained injuries who are admitted in a private hospital.Superintendent of police (rural) Satish Kumar , said, “Deceased Srikant, a resident of Muzzafnagar, had been posted as sub-inspector (SI) in Aonla police station for past ten months. He is survived by his parents, wife, one son and one daughter. He had been living alone at the government servant house in the police station. Injured three persons were identified as two home-guards- Dharmpal , 50, Vijaypal, 47 and one constable Supendra, 24, who was driving the jeep and Srikant was sitting beside the driver on the front seat.”On Saturday around 4:30 am, Srikant (SI), was in his night-shift patrolling duty - 8pm to 8am. They were returning to police station after completing one round when suddenly a speedy car came from the opposite side and in a bid to avert collision, constable took a sharp turn losing control over the vehicle and the Jeep rammed into a roadside tree near Holy family school at Aonla-Bareilly road. Some passer-by dialled 100 and informed the police."On getting information about the road accident, we rushed to the spot and sent them to nearby private hospital, where Srikant was succumbed to head injuries. It is a great loss for police department as we have lost our honest police officer,” SP said.Meanwhile, on getting information minister in UP government Dharmpal Singh reached hospital. Besides SSP Muniraj G, IG DK Thakur and ADG (Bareilly zone) Prem Prakash also reached there.
