PWD to repair 8.5 km road connecting Bareilly, Faridpur to Bhuta

Bareilly: The Public Works Department (PWD) has chalked out a plan for complete overhaul of the pothole-riddled 8.5 kilometre road that connects Bareilly, Faridpur to Bhuta. The road witnesses heavy traffic movement, as both light and heavy vehicles— including loaded trucks, trolleys and buses —ply on the road. The department had identified five prominent city stretches— Bareilly Mini bypass-Quila, Collector Ganj, Faridpur-Bisalpur road, Pilibhit road, among others, for repairs. Officials at the PWD said Rs 4 crore has been sanctioned to the repair the road, which includes filling up of potholes and leveling the road.Speaking to TOI, PWD chief engineer of Bareilly division Rakesh Rajwanshi said, “A total of Rs 3.75 crores for repairing the damaged road that connects Bareilly, Faridpur to Bhuta, has been sanctioned. The tenders were floated earlier this month and are likely to be completed by the month-end.

Random potholes have emerged on the 8.5 kilometre-road. The road witnesses heavy traffic movement, as both light and heavy vehicles— including loaded trucks, trolleys and buses —ply on the road. The condition has become dilapidated and the risk of road accidents has increased subsequently.”“Considering the traffic movement and complaints from commuters regarding the road-condition, the plan to relay the road was put forward and the required amount has been sanctioned by state government recently. The tenders were floated earlier this month and are likely to be completed by the month-end. It is hoped that the repairs will begin by December this year,” added the chief engineer.The PWD began fixing of roads within the city and on outskirts that were severely damaged after monsoon. The department had identified five prominent city stretches— Bareilly Mini bypass-Quila, Collector Ganj, Faridpur-Bisalpur road, Pilibhit road, among others, for repairs.
