Assailants shot at jewellery shop owner, loot Rs 4 lakh worth jewels

Santosh Singh was returning home after closing his shop and was carrying a bag of jewelleries worth Rs 4 lakh. Bareilly: In an incident that sent shivers down the spine of residents, three unidentified persons opened fire at a jewellery shop owner and robbed jewels worth Rs 4 lakh when he was returning home on Thursday night. Police have lodged an FIR against the assailants under IPC sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery).“The incident occurred around 7 pm. We are hopeful that this case will be solved soon and the assailants will be behind the bars,” the SP added. The assailants, who were observing his activities, appeared in front him and stopped his bike to steal his bag.

The incident occurred in Bareilly’s Partapur village.According to police, this was a pre-planned robbery and the assailants had done a recce of the spot.Victim Santosh Singh (42) is in a critical condition and undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Police have lodged an FIR against the assailants under IPC sections 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery).“The incident occurred around 7 pm. Santosh Singh was returning home after closing his shop and was carrying a bag of jewelleries worth Rs 4 lakh. He was riding a motorbike and was 800-meters away from the shop. The assailants, who were observing his activities, appeared in front him and stopped his bike to steal his bag. When Singh resisted, the assailants shot him and ran away with the bag,” superintendent of police (crime) Ramesh Kumar Bhartiya, said.The officer said Santosh then called his elder brother Deepak Singh on his phone, who took Santosh to a hospital.“Afterwards Deepak called the police to inform about the incident. We have lodged an FIR and investigating the matter. We are hopeful that this case will be solved soon and the assailants will be behind the bars,” the SP added.
