Woman hangs self to death in front of 8-year-old sister

"SHO said, "On Sunday, Upasna's younger sister Sarita visited them to spend her two-day school holiday. Upon his return, he found Upasna's body hanging from the ceiling fan and her younger sister crying besides her body. "Upasna was married to Rahul Kumar, 24, of Prem Rajpur village under Bhamora police station on July 10. After seeing both sisters sitting in the bedroom, he started abusing and beating his wife before her sister. "According to Sarita, when Upasna was taking the extreme step, she tried to stop her, but Upasna asked her to be silent and don't cry," SHO added.

BAREILLY: A 20-year-old woman hanged herself to death in front of her eight-year-old sister at their rented accommodation in Prem Nagar colony here on Sunday night.According to police, the woman took the extreme step after her husband locked the victim along with her sister inside a room following an argument with him.Prem Nagar police station SHO Balveer Singh said the victim was identified as Upasna, daughter of Veerpal, a farmer and resident of Dharampur village under Faridpur police station. "Upasna was married to Rahul Kumar, 24, of Prem Rajpur village under Bhamora police station on July 10. They used to fight over petty issues often."SHO said, "On Sunday, Upasna's younger sister Sarita visited them to spend her two-day school holiday. Around 10.30pm, Kumar reached home in inebriated state. After seeing both sisters sitting in the bedroom, he started abusing and beating his wife before her sister. When Sarita tried to stop them, Kumar pushed her and she fell on the floor. Kumar then locked both sisters in the bedroom and went out the house for an hour. Upon his return, he found Upasna's body hanging from the ceiling fan and her younger sister crying besides her body.""Some passers-by informed us about the incident and we rushed to the spot, but Kumar had fled the scene. This is a case of suicide. We sent the body for post-mortem and if any foul play comes to light, we will take appropriate action," he said. "According to Sarita, when Upasna was taking the extreme step, she tried to stop her, but Upasna asked her to be silent and don't cry," SHO added.
